This interview with Nivian Rodriguez Perez took place on October 24, 2013 in Buffalo, NY and was conducted by Stephanie Bucalo. Nivian Rodriguez Perez was born in Puerto Rico but moved to Buffalo in 1952 when she was 9 years old. She was placed in a lower grade level because she struggled to learn English. She graduated high school at the age of 21, but finished. She worked at a restaurant downtown while going to school, but after graduating she never worked again. She met her husband while working at the restaurant and started a family with him. They have four children together. Nivian reflects on her life with her husband and many of her achievements. She also discusses her feelings about living on the West Side, going to church and raising her family. Nivian shares a lot of information in this interview, but it is fairly fragmented as she had a hard time remember finer details.

Nivian Rodríguez Pérez nació en Puerto Rico pero se mudó a Búfalo cuando tuvo 9 años. Ella fue puesta en un grado más bajo para su edad porque luchaba con el idioma inglés. Ella se graduó a la edad de 21, pero terminó la secundaria. Ella trabajaba en un restaurante en el centro de la ciudad mientras asistía a la secundaria, pero justo después de graduarse ella nunca volvió a trabajar.
