This interview took place on July 31, 2012 at the West Seneca Library in West Seneca, NY. The interview was conducted by Stephanie Bucalo and accompanied by Casimiro Rodriguez. Father Antonio Rodriguez is a Spanish-born priest who was assigned to the Buffalo Diocese as a way of reaching out to the newly arrived Spanish-speaking migrant workers, many of which were residing in rural areas north and south of the City of Buffalo. Father Rodriguez created a network of programs to assist migrant workers learn about government benefits, employment opportunities, community gatherings and an overall support network. Father Rodriguez gave Spanish language masses at many of the farms where the migrant workers lived and made sure to give them an opportunity to stay connected with the Catholic Church. During the early years of his time in Western New York, Father Rodriguez was instrumental in organizing various support networks such as the Cursillo movement (a three-day pilgrimage to a selected place for parishioners to get closer to the Catholic faith), La Tilma (a Spanish language bulletin that informed Spanish speakers of community events and news), and was an advocate for those in need. Many people who have been interviewed identify Father Rodriguez as one of the most influential people of their lives. They all speak very highly of Father Rodriguez's commitment to the Hispanic community and willingness to stand up for what is right.
