3 Kings Celebrations : Photo Album
The 3 Kings Celebration is a large community festival taking place in January. Local organizations and/or churches organize festivities each year. Community members design costumes and decorate various venues to celebrate the arrival of the 3 Kings.

Agustin Pucho Olivencia Community Center : Photo Album
The Agustín "Pucho" Center was organized on the East Side of Buffalo. It was constructed by its own members in 1969. The center provided a venue for community events such as dances, weddings, funerals and other gatherings. The center was named after Agustín "Pucho" Olivencia because he is arguable the most noted and respected member of the community.

Centro Social Mexicano Music and Community Events : Photo Album
The Centro Social Mexicano on Ingham Avenue in Lackawanna, New York was constructed to provide a venue for Mexican cultural events as there was a fairly large Mexican population in Western New York. The center was built in 1940s and later became a permanent club in 1947. They used this venue to celebrate national holidays and community festivities. There was also a women's club called Club Latino Norteamericano de Mujeres. The club closed down due to low membership because of local job loss and forced relocation.

Community Parades : Photo Album
The Puerto Rican Parade originated at the Immaculate Conception Church on Virginia Street 1974. The parade continued over the years and became a large scale community event. Participants would work on floats, costumes, and performance routines for weeks in preparation. The parade temporarily stopped but restarted again after a group of community members decided to bring it back to life. It now proceeds down Niagara Street on the Lower West Side which is the heart of the current Hispanic community. Father Antonio Rodriguez was instrumental in establishing the parade and carnival.

Herman Badillo Community School : Photo Album
Herman Badillo Community School was the location of the first bilingual education program in Western New York and began in 1971. It was named after the first Puerto Rican to be elected as New York City Borough President of the Bronx and as a United States Representative. He was also the first Puerto Rican to run for Mayor in a major U.S. city. Herman Badillo Community School provided bilingual services to students who wished to maintain the Spanish but also learn fluent English. It also provided a location for non-Spanish speaking Hispanics to learn the Spanish Language. To this day, it remains a community school and is now one of two bilingual programs in the City of Buffalo.

Hispanic American Veterans Memorial Monument : Photo Album
The Western New York Hispanic American Veterans Memorial, Inc constructed one of three other statues in the entire United States solely dedicated to Hispanic American veterans. The committee chose to construct it at the Buffalo Naval and Military Park in Buffalo, NY alongside memorials representing other ethnic communities. The statue was constructed in and finished in 2013 and is the only statue to have both a male and female soldier.

Hispanic Conference Annual Gala Awards Banquet : Photo Album
The Hispanic Conference was an event organized by New York State Puerto Rican Hispanic Conference Inc. in 1995. The sole purpose of the conference was to develop a legislative agenda (social, political, and economic issue affecting Latinos) on behalf of the New York State Hispanic Community. The theme of conference "We Are Uno."

Hispanic Women's League : Photo Album
The Hispanic Women's League was formed in 1979 by a group of professional Latinas who wanted to provided financial assistance to younger Latinas to be "more than just housewives". At this time women were becoming more involved in professional careers and wanted to encourage other women to pursue their career dreams instead of assuming traditional gender roles. The League provides numerous scholarships each year for young Latinas to attend a local college and then asks them to return to Buffalo and work towards making it a better place.
